Shiatsu is a Japanese form of bodywork based on the principles of Chinese medicine. Health, in Chinese medicine, occurs when the “qi”, or “vital energy” is moving smoothly and harmoniously through its pathways in the body.  When this happens we experience a wonderful sense of well-being and connection in our lives.  This can be felt not only on the physical, but also on the mental, emotional or spiritual level, as the qi affects all aspects of our being.

A Shiatsu session lasts about one hour.  It is performed through the clothes, while you lie on a futon on the floor. Through gentle pressure and stretching the qi is stimulated and encouraged to flow more freely through its pathways, releasing blockages and creating vibrant health.
